Welcome to LERNWEG!

LERNWEG allows you to create your own learning system, information and knowledge gathering. This programme is adaptable to all levels of learning: school, further studies, professional training, research, and life-long learning.

For all people between 10 to 100, for training colleges and institutions: school, university, institutes for further education.

English, German, French. Projected is the translation into the 22 european languages.

LERNWEG is a made-to-measure programme. To facilitate school/university learning etc., the content and student/teacher input can be imported.

When I am looking for information on the Internet, I may have the answer to a specific question but if I don't organise and save it carefully, then it won't be of much use to me later. I am always up against the different support systems: notebook, exercise book, hard drive, etc... not counting the need to have everything to hand in the same place: Internet Links, Fotos, MP3, personal comments on the subject...

With LERNWEG, you have access to your own learning process not only as an overview but also in detail in a research field. One of the advantages of LERNWEG is the ability to inter-connect the different disciplines in a time line. With the function "Learn!", you test yourself regularily, enabling you to memorize information in the long term.

When I ask my teacher what happened in 1820, in the field of philosophy, history, biology, architecture, musique and art, he/she cannot respond. The context is often needed to really understand why a specific thing happened, why a discovery was made, a particular technique or thought pattern developed... Of course, I can look it up in the encyclopedia, but that doesn't give me an overall view that I need, nor can I comment on it.

With the time line, the context becomes absolutely clear. Equally, the "Search" function gives access to all links and related contexts.

We always talk about Europe, but it's Spain that interests me. I don't know what is learned in year 13 (history, maths, sociology etc.). I also don't know how to translate certain things. I shall soon be spending a year in a school in Madrid. As you can imagine, I don't really know what to expect. My older sister is in the same situation: she is going to study architecture in Italy.

LERNWEG already has translations in German, French and English. Eventually, it will be translated into all the European languages. In this way, we'll be able to compare the learning progammes in the different countries. This helps highlight the cultural differences. If a German student reads "Goethe" and "Brecht", then what would the English or French equivalent be?

I am a teacher in Hessen and I'de be interested to know what is being taught in Bayern or Saxen-Anhalt.

Two LERNWEG users can easily exchange information. For example, a teacher with colleagues using LERNWEG, in Bayern or Saxen-Anhalt, would be able to access a complete overview for Germany.

LERNWEG is for all stages of life.

I am a researcher in a very specific field. I feel somewhat isolated since few people in my area are interested in this subject. I would very much like to hear about conferences or meetings related to my subject.

LERNWEG permits us to stay in contact with what's going on, connecting the user to relevant events. Whether you are in Germany, France, England, Spain... Function: in stating your whereabouts, you have access to current events.

By giving the information a time-frame, we become aware of the spirit of the times, which in turn influences our thought patterns as in "Descartes and his vision of the world". Often, we lack the objectivity to discern this phenomenon.

The chronological overview of our own knowledge in LERNWEG facilitates a better comprehension by putting it into a specific context.
